The Tessera Sanitaria is automatically sent to your home address once you are enrolled in the Italian Public Health System and it also includes your Codice Fiscale. Please note, however, that the Tessera Sanitaria is valid only for the duration of your enrollment in the Public Health System, whereas the Codice Fiscale does not expire. Italian citizens have only the Tessera Sanitaria and do not hold a separate Codice Fiscale certificate (as foreigners may), so they sometimes refer to the Tessera Sanitaria when they actually mean the Codice Fiscale.
