05 Aug Sleeping in Malta in the summer time
On the island of Malta there are 4 main areas where most of the hotels and attractions are concentrated, and they are the main tourist destinations. These are St. Julian’s St, Paul’s Bay, Sliema and Valletta.
Valletta is the capital of Malta. The city and its historic centre offer some of the island’s main attractions. There are so many things to do and see, though it’s not very suitable for those seeking a sun and sea holiday. Public transport provides easy connections to the airport and other tourist destinations around the island.
There isn’t a wide and varied choice of hotels, the structures are few and usually rather small. Prices are medium-high, but if you are looking for a centrally located hotel in a quiet area, Valletta is a great choice.
Lodging in St. Julian’s
St. Julian’s is the most touristic area of Malta. Some of the reasons that have made it the main tourist destination on the island are: the beautiful atmosphere you breathe, the lively nightlife and good public transport. The area offers large hotel facilities with swimming pools and fully equipped beaches.
Hotel prices are quite cheap. St. Julian’s was a small fishing village until the boom in tourism and urban development that made it one of Malta’s main tourist destinations. The city is home to the Paceville district, which is largely populated by nightclubs, bars, pubs and restaurants. It’s the centre of the island’s nightlife.
Lodging in Sliema
Sliema is a pretty resort town near St. Julian’s. Here you breathe a more relaxed atmosphere and it’s also well connected to other areas of the island. The area offers large hotels with swimming pools.
Sliema is one of the most sought-after places in Malta and one of the best places to shop around the island. There is no beach, but there are areas where you can go diving. Furthermore, walking along the seafront is something wonderful.
Lodging in Saint Paul’s Bay
Saint Paul’s Bay is a great choice for those who want to spend long holidays. Although it’s further away from Valletta, it’s closer to Gozo and Comino, and the hotel facilities are quite inexpensive.
The area of St. Paul’s Bay includes, in addition to the bay itself, the cities of Bugibba and the smaller Qawra. This is the ideal destination for those looking for a low-cost holiday in Malta with family and children.
Lodging in Gozo
A little hint for a complete holiday in Malta is to spend a few days on the island of Gozo. Sleeping in Gozo is cheaper than in Malta. If you want to sleep in Gozo the best choices are its capital, the city of Victoria, or the tourist resort of Marsalforn.
Victoria is the best choice because it offers all the services that a tourist may require and easy connections with all the areas and beaches of the island. Whereas Marsalforn is the most touristic area of Gozo and the one with the cheapest hotel prices.
